Game Summary By Ed Greif

The Rockwood Tigers celebrated homecoming and senior night with a 48-6 victory over Hancock County to give Coach John Webb is 150th career victory. The Tigers dominated their guests, compiling 358 total yards (305 rushing and 53 passing) to 177 for Hancock County (104 rushing and 73 yards passing).

Fourteen different Tigers carried the football, led by Octavious Worthy (4 carries for 77 yards), Dom Simpson (2 carries, 71 yards),and Caleb Bowen (4 carries, 46 yards), while Nate Bracket completed 3-of-3 passes for 53 yards.

An 18-yard kickoff return by Ethan Short gave Hancock County the ball at their 28. A 17-yard pass from T.J. Poore to Short opened the drive, but the Tiger defense led Bracket, John Metcalfe, Jai Worthy, Tazel Bazel and John Gann stopped the march on downs at the Rockwood 48-yard line.

Three plays later, Bracket passed 41 yards to Dade Turner for a TD, after carries by O. Worthy and Dylan Williams. Ben Woodall booted the PAT for a 7-0 lead with 8:21 left in the first quarter.

After holding the Indians to three plays and out, the Tigers took over at the Hancock County 39. O. Worthy capped the five-play drive with a 9-yard run for a 13-0 lead. Woodall made it 14-0 with 4:16 left in the first quarter.

Hancock County took over at their 28 after a 13-yard kickoff return by Seth Hipshire, where they picked up first down on four running plays and an 8-yard pass from Poore to Short, but the Tigers' defense led by Williams, Dalton Moss,Austin Quick, Jai Worthy and Gann forced a punt, which was blocked by Gann at the HC 39-yard line.

Bazel picked up three yards, but fumbled, with Jack Bolden recovering for Hancock County, whose drive stalled on downs at their 40-yard line. Two plays later, Bowen raced 35-yards to give the Tigers a 20-0 lead with 11:03 left in the half. Woodall booted the PAT for a 21-0 lead.

Hancock returned the ensuing kick 19 yards, but two plays later, Devin Blevins fumbled with Quick recovering for the Tigers at the HC 33-yard line. Rockwood drove the distance in six plays to take a 27-0 lead on Williams' 6-yard run. Bazel and Bowen also carried the pigksin. Woodall booted the PAT for the 28-0 with 7 minutes in the half.

Another three and out by Hancock County turned the ball over to the Tigers at their 34, where they drove the distance in three plays to score on O. Worthy's 42-yard run, but Woodall's PAT was no good, leaving RHS ahead 34-0.

After holding Hancock County to three plays and out on the ensuing possession, the Tigers took over at their 48, where Simpson raced 52 yards to give his team a 40-0. Woodall's PA made it 41-0.

Hancock County took the ensuing kick at their 25, where Hipshire carried twice for 11 yards and passed to Blevins for a good gain, but a holding penalty reduced the pass to four yards, Poore passed 18 yards to Hipshire to end the first half.

Williams returned the ensuing kick 12 yards to the Tigers' 47 yard line, where they drove the distance in eight plays to take a 47-0 lead on Austin Orr's 2-yard run. Cody White's PAT made it 48-0 with the TSSAA mercy rule in place.

Hancock's final possession of the third quarter produced a TD, an 18-yard run by Short, but the PAT was no good, leading the score at 48-6. Both teams had one more possession in the contest.

Leading tacklers for the Tigers with one or more stops were Gavin Evans, Bracket, Metcalfe, J. Worthy, Bazel, Gann, Williams, Dillon Garrett, Moss, Quick, Ryan Nelson, Simpson, Gaskins, Billy Cofer, While, Jack Alexander, Eric Fairchild, Clay Thompson and Orr.

Rockwood (1-2, 5-4) closes out the regular season at Cumberland Gap (0-3, 6-3).
