Game Summary By Ed Greif
Rockwood played Harriman for the 100th time
Friday at Wallace-Black Field and came away
with a 29-0 victory in a 2 1/2 hour game to
improve to 2-4 on the season. Harriman fell
to 1-5.
The Tigers played without Coach John Webb
who was suspended for the game for being
ejected during the loss to Meigs County and
used a strong defense to blank the Blue
Devils. Rockwood blocked one punt for a
safey, recovered a punt from a second
blocked punt for a touchdown and converted
another fumble into a touchdown, holding the
Blue Devils to 100-yards rushing on 30
carries and two yards passing on 3-of-15
tosses with two interceptions.
Senior Nate Brackett returned the opening
kickoff to Tiger 34-yard line. Octavious
Worthy opened the drive with four carries
for 23 yards. After a 14-yard pass from
Brackett to Dakota Waldo for a first down
and 3-yard gain by Waldo, Braackett was
stopped for minus nine yards on two carries
and four penalties for 40 yards. Harriman
was penalized 15 yards after a nine-yard
pass from Brackett to Waldo, but the Tigers
stopped on downs.
The Blue Devils were stopped on downs,
forcing a punt, which was blocked by Jayden
Hannibal for a safety and a 2-0 lead.
Rockwood took the free kick, but the drive
stalled. Brackett's punt put the Blue Devils
at their 20-yard line; however, Brackett
picked off a Harriman pass, but, again, the
drive stalled, forcing another punt with
seconds left in the first quarter.
Michaiah Story and Gaskins helped the Tiger
defense stop the Blue Devils on down at the
Harriman 49-yard line. There were several
possession changes during the second
quarter. The Tigers scored on their final
possession to take a 9-0 lead on Brackett's
54 pass to Xadrian Fickey and Ben Woodall's
first PAT.
The Tigers rushed for 49 yards and passed
for 77 yards on 3-on-9 passes, while holding
Harriam4 to 43 yards rushing and zerio yards
passing. Harriman took the second half kick
and moved the ball to their 45-yard line
before punting.
The Tigers used the running of Worthy,
Waldo, Hannibal and Jack Alexander to take a
16-0 lead on Worthy's 6-yard run and
Woodall's second PAT. The drive was helped
by two Harriman penalties. Harriman took the
ensuing kick at their 20, but Woodall sacked
quarterback Bradley Frost for an 18-yard
loss which kept the Blue Devils deep into
their territory as the third quarter ended.
Levi Hensley's punt hit a teammate and was
recovered by Michaiah Storey for a
touchdown. Woodall gave the Tigers a 23-0
lead. Harriman took the ensuing kick with
Kylann Love took over at quarterback, who
completed two passes for nine yards;
however, the Blue Devils picked up five
yards on two carries and tossed three
incompletions to force a punt.
The Tigers took over went the running of
Worthy to take a 29-0 lead on Worthy's
25-yard run. The PAT was no good. Harriman
used the running of Travis Frazier to move
the ball into Tiger territory, but Fickey
picked off Taydarius Boyd to seal the
victory.
