The Rockwood Tigers evened their record at
3-3 with a 36-15 region victory over the
Harriman Blue Devils Friday night on Wallace
Black Field. Coach John Webb’s teams started
out on fire taking the opening kick at their
30-yard line. Zander Price picked up two
yards to open the drive and the Nate
Brackett passed 46 yards to Dylan Williams
to the Blue Devil 22-yard line. Two more
running plays by Price and Ryan McCain
picked up nine yards, but a couple
quarterback sacks by the Blue Devil defense
back to the Harriman 23. Brackett then hit
Trey Treadway over the middle for a
touchdown with 7:33 left in the first
quarter. Treadway’s PAT made it 7-0.
The Tiger defense held the Harriman offense
to three plays and out, taking over at the
Tiger 49-yard line after Price’s short punt
return. Running plays by Price and Joe
Ashburn moved the ball to the Harriman 36,
but a 30-yard pass from Brackett to Treadway
gave the Tigers first and goal at the
Harriman 6.
Two carries for four yards by Brackett set
up McCain’s 2-yard TD run. Treadway’s PAT
made it 14-0 with 3:18 left in the first
quarter. Sheldon Anderson returned the
ensuing kick 15 yards to the Blue Devil
35-yard line. The Tigers held the Blue
Devils to three plays and out, but a penalty
on the Tigers kept the drive going at the
HHS 45-yard line. Seven plays later, Bradly
Frost passed 27 yards to Chris Worthy for a
TD with 10:01 left in the half; however,
Jose Acosta’s PAT was no good, leaving the
Blue Devils behind 14-6.
After a nice kickoff return by Dade Turner
to the Tiger 18, but two players later
Brackett fumbled with Titan Dayton
recovering for the Blue Devils. Frost capped
the drive with a two-yard TD run with 6:45
left in the half. The two-point conversion
failed. A 20-yard kickoff return by Price
gave the Tigers the ball at their 45-yard
line. The Tigers used the running of
Williams, Price, Ashbury and McCain and an
11-yard pass from Brackett to Price to both
the ball into the red zone; however, Frost
picked off Brackett and returned the ball to
the Harriman 15-yard line.
The Tiger defense took over at the Harriman
46, where Brackett completed 3-of-4 passes
to Treadway for 17 yards, but a fifth pass
fell incomplete to end the drive at the
Harriman 24. Harriman took the second half
at their 35-yard line and used the running
of Frost, Jayden Prater, Anderson and
Trezdin Copeland to move the ball to the
Tiger 38. Frost passed seven yards to Mark
Treece for seven yards. Five more running
plays Prater, Anderson and Copeland gave the
Blue Devils first and goal at the 10. The
Tiger defense forced an incomplete pass by
Frost, setting up Acosta’s 27-yard field
goal with 5:08 left in the third quarter for
a 15-14 advantage.
That apparently fired up the Tiger offense
which marched 80 yards in eight plays to a
20-15 lead with 1:14 left on Price’s 33-yard
run. Williams 2-point conversion made it
22-15 advantage. Brackets completed 2-of-2
passes for 11 yards, while Price and
Williams toted the pigskin.
The Tiger defense held the Blue Devils to
three plays and out, taking over at the Blue
Devil 37-yard line. After a 15-yard penalty
on Harriman to the H22, the Tigers marched
the distance in three plays, scoring on
Williams 14-yard run with 10:17 left in the
game. The PAT was no good, leaving Rockwood
ahead 28-15.
Harriman took over at their 36-yard line,
but the Tiger defense forced two
incompletions by Kylann Love, who completed
40-yard pass to Treece for a first down at
the Tiger 24-yard line. The Tigers followed
with two sacks on Love, who was picked off
by Price at the Tiger seven.
Seven plays later, McCain raced 33-yards for
a TD to swell the lead to 34-15 with 4:04
left in the game. Price converted the
2-point conversion for a 36-15 lead. McCain
carried four times for 58 yards, while Price
had 26 yards on two carries. Ashburn had one
carry for nine yards. Harriman’s next
possession ended by Price’s second
interception.
