Game Recap By Ed Greif

TheRockwood Tigers took a 20-0 after one quarter and never looked back, as they defeated the Sweetwater Wildcats 47-13 to even their record to 1-1 Friday night at Civitan Field.

Sweetwater took the opening kickoff at their 31 and moved into Rockwood territory, before the Tiger defense took charge, recording two tackles for minus six yards, forcing a punt. Dade Turner recored three tackles for Rockwood, while Jai Worthy, Anthony Bell and Octavious Worthy each had one stop. Nate Bracket had a pass breakup.

Rockwood took over at their 31 and scored on a 39-yard pass from Nate Bracket to Taj Bazel to cap the six-play drive. Ben Woodall booted the PAT. Bazel carried three times for 23 yards.

After a short kickoff return, Sweetwater took over at their 39, but three plays later, Bazel picked off a Wildcat pass and returned it 45 yards for a score with 4:30 left in the first quarter. The PAT was no good, but the Tigers led 13-0.

After holding the Wildcats to three and out, the Tigers took over at their 37. Four plays later, Bazel scored on a 16-yard run to cap the drive with 2:27 left in the first quarter. Woodall booted the PAT for a 20-0 lead.

The Tiger defense held the Wildcats to a three and out on the ensuing postion, Ben Brackett's punt was blocked and returned 24 yards by David Collett for a score and a 26-0 lead. Woodall's kick made it 27-0. Octavious Worthy blocked the punt. Sweetwater's ensuing drive ended when Dylan Williams recovered a fumble at the Tiger 4-yard line.

Nne plays later, Nate Brackett hit Williams for a 19-yard TD pass, but the Tigers were penalized, nullifying the score; however, the junior quaraterback completed 2-of-4 passes to put the Tigers at the Wildcat 3-yard line.Bazel was stopped at the 1-yard line as the half ended.

Bazel returned the second half kick 11 yards to the Rockwood 31-yard line. Coach John Webb returned to his ground attack, carrying the ball eight times to score on a 1-yard run by Williams 7:17 left in the third quarter. Octavious Worthy carried the ball three times for 43 yards and Williams five times for 21 yards, Bazel's 2-point conversion made it 35-0.

Sweetwater took the ensuing kick at their 36 after a 10-yard return by Kaleb Johnkins. Austin Long passed 47 yards to Hunter Jenkins for the score with 1:07 left in the third quarter. Ben Brackett's PAT was good to slice the lead to 35-7,

Rockwood took over at their 10, but three plays later, Nate Bracket was picked off by Jenkins.Six plays later, Long passed 4 yards to Jenkins to slice the deficit to 35-13 with 9:26 left in the game.

The Tigers swelled the lead to 41-13 on a 2-yard run by Williams with 6:02 left in the game. The PAT was no good. Williams carried three times for 42 yards.

Bell picked off Long on the ensuing possession, giving the Tigers the ball at their 37-yard line. Three plays later, Nate Bracket passed 40 yards to Dade Turner for a 47-13 advantage with 3:43 left in the game. The PAT was no good.

Sweetwater took the ensuing possession used the passing of Long (4-of-8 for 53) to attempt score before the game ended, but the Tiger defense led by Clay Thompson, Collett, Dalton Moss and Dom Simpson stopped the drive at the Tiger 30.

Rockwood's offense rushed for 237 yards on 31 carries with three TDs, led by Williams (13 for 99 with 2 TDs), Bazel 9 for 74 with 1 TD) and Octavious Worthy (5 for 60).

Nate Bracket completed 7-of-9 passes for 165 yards with 2 TDs and 1 PIC. Bazel had four receptions for 72 yards with 1 touchdown, while Williams had two catches for 53 yards. Turner had one recepiton for 40 yards with 1 TD.

Leading tacklers were Collett with 5 and a return of a blocked punt,, Turner (5 solos, 1 assist) and Octavious Worthy ( four solos. Getting on the tackling list were Jai Worthy, Bell, Bracket, Williams, Austin Quick, Bazel, Woodall, Moss, Simpson, Ryan Nelson, Thompson and Micaiah Story.
