Rockwood Rolls to big Win in Home Opener

In last weeks season opener the Tigers
waited until 3:55 seconds left in the game before they scored
a point. Coach Webb's pregame message before
the Wartburg game was clear. Get in the end
zone early and often. The a Tigers must have
been listening!
It was the Drake Long show in the first half
as he had runs and receptions that added up
to 207 yards and 4 touchdowns. He scored on
runs of 14 and 10 in the first quarter
before scoring on a 44 yard pass from Will
Warner and a 60 yard run to extend the lead
to 28-0. The half ended with Jared Kilby
scoring on a 13 yard run and Jayden Woods
scoring on a 14 yard run. The first half
ended with Rockwood leading 42-0.
Logan Abbott capped off the scoring for the
Tigers with a 39 yard run in the third
quarter. Due to the Tigers being up by 35,
the clock ran without stopping in the second
half. The Bulldogs would keep fighting and
finally score on the last play of the game
to make the final score 49-6. Long ended up
with 8 carries for 119 yards and caught 2
passes for 88 yards in one half of play for
the Tigers (2-0).
Next up for the Tigers, the Harriman Blue a
Devils (2-0) for the 95th time in the states
longest running rivalry. Game time is 7:30
at a Civitan Field.
