Ryan McCain's 1-yard run with 1:34 left in the game gave the Rockwood Tigers a 9-8 lead over the Meigs County Tigers in Decatur last Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A playoffs and Zander Price's interception sealed the deal, sending their team into the semifinals this Friday on Civitan Field against the Tyner Rams.

Meigs County took an 8-0 lead on a 10-yard run by Martin Smith with 1:45 left in the half and his two-point conversion.
Price took the ensuing kick 15 yards to the Rockwood 35 and marched into Meigs County territory on the running of McCain, Price and Ashburn, but settled for a 34-yard field goal at the buzzer by Trey Treadway to trail 8-3 a intermission.

After three possession changes early in the third quarter, Meigs County took over at their 26-yard line and used the running of
Smith to move the ball deep into Rockwood territory; however, a fourth down pass from Aaron Swafford to J.J. Beeler was stopped at the 1-yard line.

McCain, Price and Bowen toted the pigskin, while Nate Brackett passed 13 yards to Treadway to set up McCain's 1-yard run with 1:34 left in the game.

Meigs County took over their 42-yard line, but two-plays later, Swafford's pass was picked off by Price, sending his team into the victory formation to seal victory.

Rockwood had two possessions in the first quarter, rushing for 48 yards on 12 carries, led by McCain and Price, 26 and 21 yards, respectively, while their defense held the Meigs County offense to 23 yards with just one first down.

Coach John Webb's squad rushed for 74 yards on 15 carries in the second quarter, while the defense held Meigs County to 64 yards rushing on nine carries and 15 yards passing with one interception by John Metcalfe.

Despite trailing 8-3 in the third quarter, Rockwood's offense produced 29 yards rushing, but they were hit with four penalties for 30 yards. Price recovered a fumble for the defense, while Tre' Fals, Garrett, McCain and Tristan Tinker made key stops on defense.

Rockwood dominated the fourth quarter, rushing for 101 yards on 20 carries, including 70 by McCain. Brackett was 1-of-3 passing for 13 yards. Price had an interception for the defense.

McCain rushed for 150 yards on 24 yards with the lone touchdown, while Price picked up 93 yards on 16 carries, as their teams rushed for 244 yards on 50 yards. Brackett was 1-of-11 for 13 yards with one interception.
