The 2019 Roane County Football Jamboree
is now in the books, played Friday night at
Roane County High School’s Dr. Nat Sugarman
Memorial Field in Kingston.
White Co. vs. Rockwood
The third quarter was one of the highest
scoring of the evening with White County
holding on to edge the Rockwood Tigers,
10-6.
The Tiger defense forced a quick punt from
the Warriors to start the frame.
Taking over on the White County 44-yard
line, Octavious Worthy got Rockwood’s
offense moving with a short gain.
The Warriors were ready for the snap on the
next play.
Sophomore Jaiden Hannibal got the handoff
from senior quarterback Nate Brackett and
raced around the jumbled mass of players in
the center of the field.
Hannibal scampered down field and was
finally ran out of bounds at the three-yard
line 41 yards later.
Freshman Dakota Waldo got the call on the
next play and plowed into the middle of the
line for a two-yard gain.
One more time was the charm as Waldo fell
forward for the one-yard touchdown. After
the missed extra point, Rockwood was up 6-0.
The Warriors took control on their 30-yard
line and mounted what was the longest drive
of the evening.
With the seconds steadily ticking down,
White County used short passing mixed with a
few runs to cap a 14-play drive with a
20-yard field goal to make the score 6-3.
The success the Tigers had enjoyed earlier
in the third had disappeared late in the
stanza.
A 13-yard pass from the 45 followed by an
incompletion set up a 26-yard pass to a
Warrior receiver behind the Tiger defense
for a touchdown to make it 10-6.
